Maths Quizzes

Today in LS2 we had a maths quiz competition. We went on a online website called Quizzes.com. We competed against each other and one of out teachers. We did a few quizzes which were easy. Then we did one quiz which I had a little bit of trouble on. If you answer the question fast you get more points but if you take a little bit long you get less points.

6 Sentence Story Prompt

This is my presentation that I have made with my partner CJ. We both worked as a team to write each story. We wrote a six sentence picture prompts about a picture that was from Harris Burdick. For the first sentence we had to write once upon a time and introduce the character. The second is when we had to tell where the character lived. The third sentence is when we tell what special talent the character has. The fourth sentence is when we introduce the problem. The fifth sentence is what the character feels and the sixth sentence is when you have to tell how the character solved the problem.

Panmure Library Visit

Last week on Friday, the year 4 to year 8 students from Panmure Bridge School went to the the Panmure Library for a performance from Stig Wemyss a voice artist for the Andy Griffiths books. He introduced us to the borrow box which is an app that allows to borrow books digitally. He really hooked us in with his jokes and sense of humor. He gave out prizes to people who wanted to play a game and won.

Inter-School Cross Country

Today in the morning the people who came first, second and third at our school country went to Bailey Road school to compete in the inter-school cross country. When we got to see other students from other school who made it to the inter-school cross country. Each year group got a different colour band to tell who is in which year group. When it was my turn to race I went to the start line. I was really nervous. The siren went off and I started to run. There was lots of mud and I slipped a couple of times. At the end I came 12th overall.

Duffy Assembly

Today after lunch time we had Duffy assembly. In the Duffy assembly we had a visit from Henry Tuipe'a. He started to talk about how he likes to read and the first book he read. It was Where The Wild Things Are. When he talked he made some jokes and made everyone laugh including myself. When he finished talking to the school he gave out the Duffy books that the students choose. We had a great time at Duffy assembly.

Can Do - Word Cline

This is a screenshot that I have taken of one of my Can Do's I have completed. This Can Do activity is called a Word Cline. You have to choose a make 5 boxes. Then you put a normal word at the bottom. After that you write a word that means the same thing but is more interesting on the other boxes above it. At the top box you have to write a really interesting word that has the same meaning as your word.

Cross Country

Today after lunch Panmure Bridge School had our school country. We walked across the road to Dunkirk Park. Some of the senior students were sent places around the course to guide the students running. Running first were the year ones and went in order to the year sevens and eights. The years 7's and 8's had to run around the course four times. By looking at the course it looked really easy but when I was running it was no way near easy. At the beginning of the race I stayed at the back. Some people were running as fast as they could at the beginning. Around on my third lap I started to pass some other people. I then knew I had a chance to come first, second or third. On my last lap I pushed harder to get a good finish. At the end I came third which is good because I tried my best.

Maths Session

Today during maths time, Ms Naicker's group started on a basic facts quiz with 30 questions. I did really well and I got 30 out of 30 questions right. We then played an online maths game called Hit The Button. We can choose which part of maths we would like to test ourselves in. We all did mixed division. My highest score was 29 out of 29. After that we got back out our maths back and did our decimal word problems. I worked with Daniel on this. Daniel and I managed to finish all of the questions. We then got to start on another decimal word problem activity.

Sketchnote

This week LS2 has been learning how to use Sketchnotes. Sketchnotes help us to understand the learning by putting it into our own pictures or words. When you are using Sketchnote you don't need any skills. When we used Sketchnote we started with Questions because we knew that topic. We talked about ways we could record our thinking. Our next topic was about Athletics. We knew quite a lot of things about Athletics because we have been doing Run Jump Throw. We then wrote about Rio and everything we know about it. The last topic we did was about

Cross Country

For the past couple of weeks on Monday and Tuesday the seniors have been doing Cross Country practice for the real Cross Country which is next week on Wednesday. Before we run we do some stretches.  Then Mr Ogilvie called us by year groups to start running. I ran 5 laps around the school. I think that I am getting faster and more fitter.
