PBS Blogging Challenge - Bonus Activity

 For this bonus activity the task was to a watch a YouTube clip about one Rainbow's End's rides (the Fearfall). Then I had to choose a ride to recommend to a friend and explain why. Then I have to explain what I would feel if I went on that ride.

Winter Learning Journey - Bonus Activity

For this activity I had to blog about my week.  In my summary I had to write what I learnt, what I liked and what I disliked. I learnt that people are doing their best to try and save whales. I have also learnt more about New Zealand than before. I liked how the theme was the great kiwi road trip and we got to learn about our country and culture. I didn't dislike anything. I was really shocked that we have invented quite a few things like the bungee jump.

For this activity I had to watch three different videos of the All Blacks performing the haka before their match. I then had to order the videos from best (#1) to worst (3#).

For this activity I had to to say if I would like to cycle the Otago Rail trail one day. I say yes because it sound like loads of fun. Another reason is because I really like riding my bike. It will be a really good exercise for me since it is 150 km.

For this activity I had to form my opinion about people fishing in Farewell Spit. I think that we should ban people from fishing in Farewell Spit. Many Hector's dolphins are dying each year by getting caught by large fishing nets. They can fish somewhere else where they are not near the Hector's dolphins. Since Hector's dolphins are endangered they can possibly become extinct.

For this activity I had to interview one person in my family and ask him/her what their five favourite things to do outside. I decided to interview my younger sister. Her favourite things to do:

1. Playing with her friends

2. Climbing trees

3. Riding her bike

4. Going up the Mt Wellington or around the Panmure Basin

5. Shooting hoops outside

For this activity I had to go on the Gallipoli website. I then had to write three things I learned about the battle.

1. About half of the Otago Infantry Battalion were killed, wounded or missing after trying to attack on May 3rd 1915.
2. 42,000 Turks attacked the ANZAC's and out of the 42,000 Turks who attacked the ANZAC's, 10,000 were casualties.
3. On the first day of battle at Gallipoli there were 650 New Zealand casualties.

For this activity I had to decide if I wanted to be the Prime Minister of New Zealand one day. I am not really sure because if you do become Prime Minister you have got the chance to travel the world but on the other hand it could be quite a lot of work and you might be stressed.

For this activity I had to decide which is the best New Zealand sport. I had to choose out of rugby union, rugby league, netball soccer and cricket. I think that rugby is the best sport because it is the most known New Zealand sport. I also think that it is New Zealand's most successful sport.

For this activity I had to say if I think that breakfast is the most important meal of the day or if it is not. I think that breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it helps your brain to think and concentrate during class time (if you go to school).

For this activity I had to translate five basic travel phrases into Spanish, German, Malaysian, Japanese, Arabic, or Afrikaans. The five phrases were Good Morning, Goodbye, How much does this cost?, When is the next bus? and Where is the nearest hospital? I chose to translate these five phrases into German.

I looked around the room. Nothing seemed unusual, but then I heard footsteps walking slowly towards my bedroom door. The door handle started to rattle. The door flew open and a mask person was standing in my room. I was really startled and I hid under my blanket. The masked person grabbed hold of me and tried to take me out of my room. I desperately tried to hold on to something but I just couldn't. I then woke up and was so relieved that it was only a dream. I then learnt that I shouldn't watch scary movies that are not for my age.

For this activity if you have been to Wellington you have tell about two things you did there but if you haven't been to Wellington you had to click on the link on the Summer Learning journey page and tell 2 things you would want to do in Wellington. I have been to Wellington and it was really awesome.

1. I went to Westpac Stadium and watched a rugby match that was between the Hurricanes and the Chiefs.

2. I visited Te Papa museum.

I have decided to complete the bonus activity for the Summer Learning Journey. I have to write a letter to a friend or family member to tell them that I am going to visit the country I chose. In my letter, I had to tell them where I was going, why I have decided to go to the particular country and how long I will be away. Feel free to invite them to join you, if you’d like!

It is time to say goodbye mum. I am heading off to go to Mexico. I have decided to travel there because I don't know much things about Mexico. I also want to learn about their culture. I will be gone for 4 weeks. I will be missing you.
